Multiple Sorting Made Easy
Posted on December 25, 2011 by DaveO in Additional "How To" Comments
This template allows for multiple sorts of your dashboard page (in actuality a fixed data array) which is really neat. Start by clicking the grey “Clear Sorting” button at the top of the page; top row of buttons, all the way to the right. To sort click a box in the dashboard column you wish to rank, for example in cell B3 to sort your contacts/projects based on Category. Don’t select the cell B2, the header for the category column; you’ll get a cell protected message. After selecting a cell under the heading, B3, click either the “Sort Ascending” or “Sort Descending” grey button at the top of the dashboard page and the data (array) will be organized as you requested.
If you wish to sort the data (array) again, click a box under the column heading you wish to utilize, for example cell C5 of the Priority column. Once again click either the ”Sort Ascending” or “Sort Descending” grey button at the top of the dashboard page to sort.
Now you’ll have your dashboard page first sorted by Category and then by Priority. You can continue sorting on any dashboard element (Status, Last Contact Date, Follow up Date …) based on your needs.
If you need to look at the dashboard in a different way for a new audience, use the ”Clear Sorting” button and start over.
